The masses living in Youhanabad have a long history of economic and social marginalization. This reflects in the fact that it is one of the poorest colony of Lahore lacking many important facilities particularly public health. As of now, the population of Youhanabad is estimated at more than 250,000 individuals. The health of the inhabitances is miserably ignored. The nearest Government hospital is located at the distance of 7 Kilometers. Most residents work as sanitary workers and sweepers; this exposes them to a myriad of diseases such as, Hepatitis A,B,C, Diabetes, Tuberculosis, dengue fever, Hypertension, Venereal diseases, Cholera, Dental diseases, Anemia, typhoid, Orthopedic, skin diseases, Digestive disease, Eye diseases, Maternal disease, pediatric diseases, polio etc and thus putting the health of the people at risk. This desperate and terrible situation compelled our organization NGO LIGHT (LIVE ISSUES, GENERAL HARMONY AND RIGHTS TRAINING, REGISTRED NO. RP/1424-L/S/2004/ 935, Lahore.) to build a charity hospital in Youhanabad, Lahore Pakistan.
